The idea for FRETS Roasting Company came a long way from Coshocton. The idea was actually birthed at a Christian songwriter’s conference in Estes Park, Colorado.  Some new friends I made at the conference were sitting around playing songs for each other.  I asked one of the guys what to do with the songs that aren’t necessarily “congregational” type songs. I played a tune I had written called “The Prophet Song” and one of the guys said “that’s a coffee house song; you should start a coffee house”!
The seed was planted; I came home and discussed it with my wife. We just happened to have a recently vacated restaurant in a great location, what a coincidence! I prayed about it for a few weeks and in September 2007 passed it by Jason Pendola. He didn’t hesitate about the idea. He said he’d been praying for something like this for some time. He immediately agreed to supply a sound system; I agreed to provide Espresso equipment. We each asked a few close friends to help and we got going. (Ironically Jason and I met at another community outreach ministry; Habitat for Humanity).
Acquiring our coffee supplier came together in a similar manner. I wanted a coffee roaster that was faith based, it seemed consistent with our mission. As I was taking my daughter to the airport in October I mentioned I was looking for a faith based coffee roaster and she reminded me of Alliance World Coffees in Muncie, Indiana. She attended the Muncie Alliance church while a student at nearby Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.
From the beginning F.R.E.T.S  really felt God blessed, that this was something the area needed. Our goal is a safe comfortable place to get a great cup of coffee, relax and listen to live music with friends. We wanted to do it for God; we wanted to do it for the community.
Well anyway a with little luck, a lot of prayer, and listening to God’s call we have been  led  here. We hope you enjoy coming to F.R.E.T.S as much as we enjoy welcoming you here!

Blessings,
